ATHLETES AND THEIR APPETITE

Athletes have a whole other lifestyle of their own which they follow and cannot afford to make any mistakes. While they need all the nutrients a normal person would need, they have to knock it up a few notches in certain aspects and also reduce a few items of consumption if not stopping it once and for all. Of all the diet plans that you can find, you will find that athletes are the ones who follow one of the best protein diets. If you intend to maintain yourself and also work it out on the track like they do, then apart from the fitness machines you bought through Grand Slam Fitness, you also need to alter your diet. ‘You are what you eat’ might be the saying of the past. ‘Eat what you intend to be’ is in the now.

Now that we have established clear grounds as to what we are looking at, we need to observe that there are quite a number of things that you can have and mind you, too much is too bad again. The secret is to have what you need the most and cut back on what will make you go against your agenda. So here’s a list of things you should make a part of your appetite:

–          Oatmeal: Well, you can have this is many ways and you will often see the gym goers also having oats and on a regular basis. You may think it as something that may not taste good or is bland, but if you have a role to play in the kitchen, then you will be able to make great changes to it and it’ll fit right into your everyday meals. However, it is highly recommended to avoid flavored oatmeals.

–          Chocolate Milk: Drink a good quantity of it after your workout sessions and you will be able to get the same impact from it as you get from the commercial protein shakes and whatnot that is available on the counter. The calcium and Vitamin D that comes with it is irreplaceable and are most helpful in giving you a good dose of it. Remember, post workout.

–          Spinach: Yes, greens will take you a long way in terms of a healthy life. However, if you want to be more specific as an athlete, you need to consume more of spinach. Popeye was not having it all the time for no reason, right? What’s best is that this can be easily included into your salad along with your favorite chicken.

–          Chicken & Eggs: A source of protein is of utmost importance as you need to maintain it for being an athlete. So go ahead and munch on that zesty chicken dish you like. But, make sure you do not cook it with all the unhealthy ingredients in the world. Also, make sure you consume enough egg whites to keep your protein levels up to the mark.

As an athlete, protein, calcium, vitamins and various other nutrients need to be consumed to keep yourself up and of course, it is better to get it through your food than have them as supplements, so eat wisely.
