Unless you have opted for a field job specifically and you had no intentions of sitting behind a desk. Under those circumstances, you will be having a pretty good workout every day. Now, given that life does not always go on as we intend to have it, we should prepare for the worst and also the best and one of the most important ways to keep at it is exercising. Exercises come in simplest forms and will come into great effect once you start doing them. Here are a few :
– Breathing: Yes, it is as simple as that. You will have to just breathe and it ends up impacting you in a positive way. However, it is not just normal breathing but targeted breathing to be precise. Firstly, relax and stretch back on your chair and exhale with force trying to get rid of as much air as possible. Now you need to press your right hand against the right side of your rib cage so that you breathe only from the left side. Repeat the same for left side and the middle portion. 5 to 10 reps will be a good amount of it.
– Shrug: Well, the only difference between the desk shrug and a normal shrug is probably the weight factor. In this exercise, grab your chair from the sides under the seat and make a movement that mimics you trying to lift the chair while being seated on it. When you get the pull, pause for 5 seconds and then get back to a relaxing position. 5 to 6 reps of this exercise will be good enough.
– Triceps push down: This must be one of the easiest and interesting exercises to all you muscle hunks. Get your chair close to the table and keep your elbow at a 90 degree angle and press your open palm against the table and push yourself back. This gets your triceps extended and gives it a good workout. 5 to 6 reps of this should be giving you a good time.
Now that you know what to do to make best use of your desk time at work, get on it and try it out. Make sure to do them whenever you tend to feel frustrated or bored or are looking for a break. Also, don’t forget to take walking breaks as sitting at the desk for too long is not that good for your posture.
