Debunking Myths: Exercises are only for young people
How many of us feel young? Irrespective of whether you are in your 20’s, 30’s or ever in your 40’s, how many of us feel like we are young enough? Every minute that passes, we feel we are getting older and older and when we look at young lads running around in their shorts, we literally miss being young. Given the fact that we need to be exercising regularly to be fit and to live longer, we need to know that if we keep exercising is when we end up living longer.
Exercising is more than what it looks like. From a distance, it may end up looking like it is only meant for the young ones who are young at heart and physique but what many don’t see is that there are exercises which are meant for different age groups and that you are capable of them all and Grand Slam Fitness is here to break just that myth.
Agreed that you will never be able to scale down your age and get to where you were as a 20-year-old. You will not even be able to pick up a dumbbell when you’re up to 40 years old maybe but that is not the only way of exercising. You need to understand that with age, the strength that we possess may go down but with willpower, you can make almost anything happen. If you want examples of aged people keeping up with fitness, you can have a look at the stars from ‘Rambo’ and ‘Commando’, yes, the iconic stars of Hollywood will still look pretty good in shape to you although they are in the senior citizen category now. Constant care and exercise has got them up and running even at their age and that is something we all must try and cultivate. There can be many such examples.
For instance, there was an 80-year-old who ran a marathon recently. This not only shows that it is possible but also motivates you to get up and do something. Setting up a routine, sticking to it and sweating it out should be a life goal and not just something you do when you are young and energetic. It might not be easy to lift dumbbells as mentioned, but it will be possible to flex yourself and keep your body in good form.
If you still think exercises are not meant for you once you get old, think again. As and when we get old, we need more maintenance. This means that our body needs to get serviced more often than we know. Exercising is what acts as a service provider and will take care of you for as long as you are alive. This doesn’t end up meaning that you don’t have to take care of anything else apart from exercising.
Maintaining a diet is also a very important aspect to consider when you are thinking of keeping yourself in a running condition to speak in the language of automobiles. Just like them, we also often need a good service and need to be kept in a shining form to last longer. Simple exercises can go a long way during old age.
To make this more concrete, do you see how doctors ask a few elderly people who complain of body pains to perform some simple exercises? Well, the key is to exercise and to do it daily.
